Parents, we hear you! Planning a Nerf-style party can feel like a lot—but here's the good news: with the right games, the kids will be so entertained, you'll just need to sit back and watch the action.
At Battlezone, we've loaded every package with eight inflatable bunkers, team bandanas, safety goggles, and foam blasters for a reason. These aren't just props—they're the foundation for incredible games. Here are our favourite tried-and-true setups that parents tell us keep kids engaged, laughing, and coming back for more.
Game 1: Bunker Breakthrough
The Setup: Divide the eight bunkers evenly—four on each side of your yard. Create two teams using the red and blue bandanas. One team defends their four bunkers; the other attacks.
How to Play: Attackers get 10 minutes to "capture" the bunkers by reaching each one and tagging it (with the blaster or their hand). Defenders try to tag attackers with foam darts before they reach a bunker. An attacker who gets tagged has to run back to the starting line and try again.
Scoring:
- Each bunker captured = 10 points
- Bonus: 5 extra points if the entire team captures all four bunkers in under 10 minutes
The Twist: After round one, teams switch roles. Highest score at the end wins!
This game works great for mixed ages because the speed and strategy mean every kid—fast runners and clever thinkers alike—can shine.
Game 2: Target Takedown
The Setup: Place your foam target cans in a line about 10 metres away. Kids take turns trying to knock them down with their foam darts.
How to Play: Set a time limit (say, 60 seconds per player) and count how many cans they can hit. Teams earn points based on total hits.
Scoring:
- Each can knocked down = 5 points per team member
- Keep a running tally—it's fun to announce the leader!
Why Kids Love It: Target practice feels like an official "skill challenge," and younger kids especially love the instant feedback of knocking something over.
Game 3: Fortress Defence
The Setup: One team defends all eight bunkers (spread across their zone). The other team attacks.
How to Play: Defenders stand near their bunkers and try to tag attackers with foam darts. Attackers must touch each bunker to "mark" it. Once all eight bunkers are marked, attackers win. If defenders tag all attackers before the bunkers are marked, defenders win.
Scoring:
- Attackers win: 50 points (and the title of "Champions")
- Defenders win: 50 points, plus 10 bonus points for each bunker that wasn't marked
Pro Tip: Give attackers a 30-second "safe zone" headstart so they can spread out without getting immediately tagged. This keeps the game balanced and fun for all skill levels.
Bonus: The Great Bullet Hunt
After the games, announce it's time for Bullet Collection Battle. Give kids a few minutes to collect all the foam darts that ended up around the yard. Whoever collects the most wins a small prize (or just bragging rights!).
Why It's Brilliant:
- Kids think it's a game, not cleanup
- It naturally winds down the high-energy party
- The competition keeps everyone engaged to the very end
Pro Tips from Battlezone
- Keep rounds short. 10–15 minutes per game means you can rotate through a few different games in one party. Kids stay excited, and no one gets tired or bored.
- Mix up the teams each round so friendships stay fresh and everyone gets a chance to play together.
- Let them make up rules. Kids often have creative ideas—roll with it! The best parties are the ones where they feel like co-creators.
- Safety first. Always remind kids to wear their goggles, use foam darts gently, and tap (not throw) from close range.
